  • Are you a new or expectant parent, or even a seasoned veteran?
  • Would you enjoy support, friendship and a sense of community?
  • Would you like to share tips on how to "green" your home and rid your family's surroundings of toxins?
  • Do you want to feel more connected to and mindful of the food your family eats? Do you need help shopping in season and locally?
  • Do you want to avoid the grocery store and super market? Do you want to eat a mainly organic diet, yet stick to your budget?
  • Are you looking for high quality, Earth and family friendly products both you and your baby will love for a long time?
  • Best of all, would you like to have fun, meet other like minded families, and save a bunch of money while doing all of this?

Portland Green Parenting is here to help!

Portland Green Parenting has been connecting and supporting families since October 2007. We are a Portland, OR based member network of eco-conscious families. Our members are welcome to be as active as they choose and host lots of fun activities for the whole family, including play dates, outings to local attractions, dinner clubs and potlucks, workshops, Mom's and Dad's Nights Out/In, and lots more!

As members, we use our group-buying power to purchase bulk goods, local produce and other items at a fair price while placing an emphasis on sustainability and organic practices. We bring you a quickly growing multi-vendor food buying group, and organize lots of bulk buys that can save you money. We can show you how you too can eat better AND save money!

We offer an active and resourceful message board for sharing advice, tips, support and staying in touch between meetings.

Recently, we have launched a small web shop with useful and durable products that you can feel good about purchasing. Food items are only available to our members, but you do not need to be a member to shop for our other goods. Members do enjoy exclusive promotions though!

We look forward to having you join our growing community and making some new friends!

For more information on what we offer, please feel free to browse our site. To learn how to apply for membership and how to register for our private forums and calendar, visit our "How To Join" page. We offer a free, no strings attached 30 day trial membership.

Calendar and forums!  E-mail

Check out our calendar for deadlines and schedules if you would like to participate in our food buying group. We take delivery of organic produce on a weekly basis, and other organic bulk foods arrive once a month. We also have lots of fun, interesting and family oriented events in the Portland area listed in the private, members-only section of the calendar.

Don't forget to visit our active and supportive members only forums for keeping in touch in between events! This is also where you can find other families to share bulk foods with.

Don't be shy, we look forward to meeting you!

Learn With Us!  E-mail

One of our goals is to share knowledge and skills within our community. We seek to offer an increasing array of classes on green and natural parenting, sustainable living, and the preparation and preservation of real food. We envision a cooperative atmosphere and want to keep our workshops affordable and accessible to all families while also fairly compensating instructors for their time and energies. We hope to serve as a resource for the community by offering a variety of fun, family friendly and affordable workshops-- the idea is that we will learn and grow together.

Teach a Class

If you have skills or expertise that fits with our values and vision, please contact us about offering a workshop or series of classes! We invite you to share your knowledge with us by teaching a workshop. If there is a class that you would like to see listed here, let me know. I am happy to try and find guest instructors. New ideas are always welcome!

As an instructor, you determine the cost of tuition, but we appreciate a discount for PGP members. If desired, Portland Green Parenting can handle registration for workshops, promote your workshop, and provide space by prior agreement (for a small fee). You are welcome to join our community as a Professional Service Provider, and post about your class offerings on our community "Market Place" bulletin board.

Host a Class

Most of our workshops can be held at a member's home, work place, church or other location. As a thank you for hosting a workshop, you will receive discounted or free tuition. If you are interested in hosting a workshop, contact us and we will work with you to set a date and time, and discuss minimum participation requirements depending on your location.
