About PGP
Portland Green Parenting formed in October 2007 after Rebecca and her family relocated to Portland, Oregon. Today, we are a community of over 150 families in the greater Portland area who have come together to grow as parents and educate ourselves on how to raise happier, healthier children who care for our environment and each other while making new friends and having fun!
Our full calendar offers frequent opportunities to get together for playdates, morning coffee/breakfast, outings to the Zoo, OMSI, CM2, puppet shows, parks, cultural events, workshops, fieldtrips, and other fun happenings all over the city! We also organize special MNO/MNIs just for mamas to relax and take a well-deserved break.
We have a private, active forum on which to share support and information, and get new ideas on topics of interest or just for staying in touch in between meetings.
Many of us are interested in food, and want to learn how to be more mindful of and connected to what we eat. Our goals are to share recipes, meal prep, and meals; host educational workshops about growing, preparing and eating wholesome food; take field trips to local farms; and of course organize lots of fun potlucks and dinner clubs where we can get together and actually taste all that yummy goodness!
We also run our very own food buying groups, and most recently, we are very excited to be working on putting together a CSA program for our members for next season!
We invite you to join us to make new friends and gather for fun family events, support, exchange of ideas, and encouragement on topics such as breastfeeding, attachment parenting, natural childbirth, whole foods, and how to incorporate green, sustainable living into our everyday parenting choices.
We welcome all your suggestions on how to make this group better suited to your needs! We look forward to meeting you in person at one of our events soon!
